For Drupal sites that require scalability, it is highly important to design an architecture with consideration of which components might become the next bottleneck.
In this session, I will provide an overview of strategies for scaling a Drupal site—starting with 4 fundamental components: the browser, web server, application server, and database server—as the site gradually requires more scalability.
For example, I will explain how page cache, reverse proxies, CDNs, cache backends, public and private files, and DAM contribute to enhancing scalability for pages and static files in the architecture diagram.
In particular, focusing on how to use the “cache” to improve performance, I will explain what each component caches and the best practices for cache purging.
Since this session is designed for beginners—including junior developers and architects—as well as non-engineers, such as site builders, marketers, or project managers, it will not cover code in detail but will instead focus on concepts and their importance.
